Oticon’s new Opn S is a follow up to the wildly popular Opn, building upon the technology behind the first internet-connected hearing aid, adding advanced feedback and noise canceling technology. With Opn S, Oticon is aiming to provide hearing aid wearers with a listening experience on par with people with normal hearing. Opn S also introduces lithion-ion batteries into the Oticon’s portfolio, with a new charger that can deliver a charge that will last all day long in just 3 hours.
Oticon aims to achieve said listening experience by removing bothersome feedback, including the whistling that hearing aid wearers commonly experience, while providing the hearing aid wearer’s brain with up to 30% more speech cues. The new technology is also accompanied by a new OpenSound Booster within the Oticon On smartphone app that allows users to select a boost of hearing support whenever they find themselves in a situation where they feel they need it.
“Parties, family dinners and restaurants can be extremely daunting when you have a hearing loss,” said Ole Asboe Jørgensen, president, of Oticon. “The background noise and multiple speakers makes following conversation challenging and many would rather avoid these situations. We know this will make a huge difference to the lives of users, and without the risk of feedback, users can also feel confidently comfortable wearing their hearing aids.”
