A newly introduced application called Noise will be a part of the next iteration of Apple Watch’s operating system, further expanding the company’s health focus. Noise is exclusive to the latest version of the Apple Watch, Series 4, and will utilize the built-in microphone to measure the sound in construction zones, busy streets, during loud events, or in other loud situations that may be dangerous to one’s hearing.
Users can open the app to analyze the number of decibels in real time if they become concerned about the noise. The app also runs in the background and will warn the user when the noise around them reaches above 90 decibels. This should enable the users to avoid situations that could contribute to gradual hearing loss

Noise does not record any of the sound it analyzes, and does not save any audio. Noise is also accompanied by an updated Health app that now tracks sound levels of certain headphones, enabling users to get a more complete understanding of their hearing health. Noise is available in the WatchOS 6 Beta, and will become available for all users sometime in the fall of 2019.
